I felt that way too animalnurse around about the two week mark. Your body is recovering some serious balance and that takes time, hang in there.

Hi, Animalnurse.

It' Ok to be emotional at this stage of sobriety. I experienced the same. It's getting better,

Just let your emotions out and accept them.

This shall pass and tomorrow will be better.

Take care.

Yep, me too between weeks two and three. It passes. Take Rainy's advice and go for a walk or distract yourself in some way...whatever way you can. After a ton of reading (most of which can be found here) I realized that it does take awhile for you/your brain to learn to process emotions sans booze. Little things (or nothings) seem huge, huge things seem numbing...other times stuff just comes from nowhere and you cry and feel like hell. It's all part of the process. I still have those moments (I am almost 3 months sober) now and again but they have receded greatly. And now I know that they are "normal," I just consider them part of my brain's healing process and am grateful for the healing---even though I may feel awful in the moment.

Sixteen days is awesome, you're through some of the worst parts of it! Hang in there, it feels so, so much better the further away you put yourself from that bottle. I never believed it was going to be true but, happily, it is.

Big hugs to you tonight!!

Thank you guys, I really am glad that I'm not alone. I really don't want to break because of being emotional, I really want to get better.i suppose I'm not used to dealing with these feelings sober and they feel so HUGE but I also wasn't expecting to start feeling like this at this stage, u know? Thought it would have been earlier.i don't know, this is the longest I've been sober in years so its all new being me. Thanku thanku, hugs back x

Hi animalnurse,

I was looking yesterday for some solace re those difficult emotions. Found it right here on SR: a wonderful Rumi poem which I used to have up on my noticeboard at home many years ago....

Hope it offers you some relief
