I came across this site and thought I'd check it out. I've known that I have a problem with alcohol for a while, but somehow my life is still intact (in the professional sense) so I have been slow to admit it. My fiancé left me in November and since then my drinking is really becoming a problem.

Welcome! Glad to have you with us. I too, am a professional, and also an alcoholic. I often struggled because on the outside, everything looked fine. On the inside, I was in tremendous pain.

Again, welcome to this community. Hope we can be of help.

Welcome RBJ

A lot of us are slow to admit it - I lost relationships, careers and then very nearly my life before I faced facts.

Coming here and facing the problem was definitely a better option

Welcome to a great place RBJ - I think you'll really find it helpful to be here. For me, it was a life saver.

Good for you - realizing your drinking is causing problems is something many never admit. I fooled myself for years, thinking I could use willpower to stop any time. I ended up drinking every day in the end, & was totally dependent on it. This won't happen to you.

might be a good time to stop
at least slow down until you know better what's going on
but
if
you are a drunk such as myself
I could never slow down for long

Hi RBJ~

I found this site last February. One morning after taking my kids to school so hungover and still drunk I surely was not a safe driver, I 'woke up'. A google search later I was here.

I always thought I could handle my drinking. But it finally became apparent I couldn't. Luckily, I didn't have anything tragic happen like so many others.

This is a great site for support. We all have done it. You don't have to hide anything. There is no judgement, just help moving forward. One sober day, then another. Just keep doing it.

Welcome!
