Higher Power
Higher Power
For much of my long life I have been engaged in a running battle with the concept of God and atheism. As for the AA concept of a higher power I am feeling a good degree of alignment.
I have looked at Buddhism, Hinduism,Zarathustrianism, Theosophy, Judaism, Islam, and many Christian beliefs and see my appraisal of God as limited by my cognitive ability and willingness to do my best within that spiritual framework, not find fault at the secular level, and in doing so throw out all the good because of the questionable.
My history also involves much study of atheism/agnosticism in many ways and I am not knocking "higher power" as viewed from the group dynamic. From my personal perspective a God based position has become far more realistic.

TRue and very often distinguishing isn't all that easy.
After eight consecutive meeting and debating with H.P. decided to read some of Big Book today and am moving well within the AA environment again after 18 years absence.
