A.A. meeting tomorrow!
A.A. meeting tomorrow!
Well I'm off to my first meeting in over 10 years tomorrow.
Ten years of so calledmoderate drinking for that period, and I thought I was pretty right. Not so!
I feel the need for some more shared motivation and as an agnostic, not against Christians in any way, i am not bothered by the higher power concept at all.
Hope there aren't too many belligerent types (lol) Anyhow, so what, I see the underlying message as important.

Understand the same thing and hope your AA meeting goes well. Please let me know how it goes, I'm not a drinker but have been thinking of attending one as well just for structured support. NA times around me aren't possible- but it may be necessary to keep my "sober ball" going.
All the best,
J

As I recall some sharers get really emotive.
I'll probably get called up as a newbie and 50 years covers a lot of ground.
Might start on really bad 20s, blackouts, crazy behaviour...........
30s ? Two convulsions, spinning rooms, and oh! those horrific hangovers.
Yeah, should be able to think of something.

The meeting today was pleasant, friendly, and instructive.
Considering the 90 day marathon
May schedule myself for 1 week and see how it goes......
6 days nil alcohol
Good to have you aboard..
AA saved this alcoholics life.. And has givin me one that I never thought I would have .. A happpy, joyous, and free life without drinking..
I also am not Christian, Catholic, Baptist or follow any religion.. But I do have a higher power.... I am just a little ol' human to think I am the center and power of the universe would be silly..
Keep going and growing strong.. 6 days is awesome..

You don't have to give a detailed drunkalogue!
Simplify it to something like, "I drank for a long time, it got worse and worse, I've had enough, how can you help me to stay stopped now and who can help guide me through the steps?"
I worked the steps with a serious willingness, I put aside my old beliefs and was again willing to believe that possibly a power greater than I existed.
I did work the steps quickly for relief (not rushed, just worked them early in recovery and kept moving forward with them) and by the time I completed step 7, things were different, my perspective on life was different, and I commenced to live my life differently than I had previously.
Those steps saved my life. There is hope for you to stay stopped, too!

Great post!! Glad you went, I don't share much myself, my group could care less.. They are just glad I show up.. Great fellowship.. I go a little early and stay after and talk with the old timers. I'm new to the program but its really changed my life for the better.. It will be a part of my life moving forward.. One of the better things!!
Pulling for you, keep up the good work!!

I have no problems with the Higher power concept and like the general ethical concepts of AA.
Had planned to do ninety days, but should have gone down that track in my 30s/40s; anyhow where I am presently at, doesn't any longer require that intensity IMO.
wILL KEEP UP WEEKLY MEETING THOUGH!
