Time

How is it that when I am not drinking, time almost stands still? 3 days not drinking seems like 3 months. How do you fill the time?

Hi Kza

You do get used to it - there's literally not enough hours in my day now.
You have to be active tho I think - what kinds of things do you do during the day?

Ha, ha, time does seem to go a lot slower.

That's not necessarily a bad thing though.

When I was younger a month seemed like a year, since giving up drinking it kind of feels a bit like I've gone back to that. I quite like that.

Whilst I was drinking I lost years, I picked up a drink and it was several years later before I knew it and all that time had gone in the blink of an eye.

At least now you're aware and living your life.

Very True!
I still feel the same way after 46 days!
I find myself getting ready for bed & watching the clock by 9-10pm at night! How sad is that! In my real drinking career I was just getting started then, Just had a good buzz going, who goes to bed at 11pm???
Oh wait people that don't stay up & drink all night like I (& Im sure many here) used too!

To me, that's one of the greatest gifts of sobriety. Having time again is wonderful. I now find I can get the things I have to do out of the way, and can read, do crafts, cook, watch tv, visit with friends, take a swim, play with the cats-things I never seemed to have enough time for when I was drinking.

Try to make a list of 25 things you'd enjoy doing and pull it out when you're bored.

There really is a lot more time and now I get so much more stuff done!

Spending an entire day in bed sleeping it off was such a waste of life.

The first month sober was the slowest month of my life. Time seemed to speed up considerably after 6 months though. Give it time. Nice to see you back Kza x
