when did it stop being fun!
when did it stop being fun!
"Chasing the dragon"..."its never as good as the first time."
Always thought this was only for dope fiends. Nope, all inebriates it seems to me. The last few years I knew I couldn't get drunk no matter what but it didn't stop me from trying.
" it will make the movie funnier...not. Make the meal better...not."
I was trying to remember the last time it was fun....really had to dig for it. Really looking I see the last time I got so drunk i thought it was fun I immediately started seeing double and passed out. 3 seconds of fun...over a year ago, but I kept good and steady at pouring those same glasses.
am gaining more perspective with each sober day.

I hear ya, Pataphor.
Yes, it stopped being fun for me too. In the end, it caused me nothing but problems, anxiety, stress.
After I realized this, I kept drinking for almost 2 more years!! I've heard it said, "I got to the end of the line, and I started laying more track."
Good for you for gaining the proper perspective.

Oh absolutely, it stops being fun but we barely notice as continue drinking. I think, after the first few months, it was never fun for me again. But, I didn't slow down or stop for a long time.
That was one of my biggest problems - seeking the elusive high and happy days. In my case, I had to go back decades to find them. I always thought if I could manage to just have 'a few' it might be fun again. I never knew that once you cross the line from social to alcoholic drinking there is no more fun - it becomes just a habit we refuse to break.
Good thoughts, Pataphor.

Thanks for this thread can relate a lot.
Firstly it stopped being fun when i started drinking on my own instead of with friends,
then stopped working as the crutch id fall on to overcome stress and depression its like i 'used' up my share of fun alcohol then 'used' up my share of pain relief alcohol- if that makes sense?

Totally get that too. I have been thinking a lot lately, I wish people could/would give sobriety a good chance. I know some people are going through really hard stuff when trying to get sober (I was years ago, it was hard!!), but being sober and feeling good, I wonder "why do I want to feel sh*tty??" Ugh!!
It stopped being fun a long time ago and it doesn't get any better.
