New and scared

Hello all,

I'm new this board although I peek in often. I've decided it's time to join. How found these forums helpfully although I'm only on day two.

Welcome to Sr Cigi. These forums have been my lifeline during the 8 days since I last had a drink. Lots of good people and good material.

Hi, Cigi, Welcome aboard.

I was scared out of my mind when I arrived. Depressed, lonely, worn out. I think a lot of people arrive that way. I know it can feel really bad, but trust me, you'll look back at this and realize this was a really good day. This is when things start getting better.

Glad you found SR!

Day two is two days better than day 0. Keep stopping in. There are a lot of great people here.

Cigi, I can tell you if not for SR I would have had something to drink last night. I was going through the blues and feeling pretty sorry about myself and my situation. I spent hours on the forum and then went to the chat room. Anything to get past the urge. I can tell you the urge passed in a couple of hours and I am doing gray today with 9 days sober.

Hang in there and read something. The books really helping me are Rational Recovery (you can get a lot of the stuff from this book on the Secular Recovery part of the SR forum. I am also reading some memoirs by recovered alcoholics and finished Dry by Augusten Boroughs last night. They are helping me see where my life was going if I did not totally give it up.
