Well hello world,enjoying site,its been great hereing poeple's story' abit addictive dont need any more addiction's lol,the last one (drink)killed me and now i fill diffrant already,can never drink again,its been hard not long out of hospital,5weeks is the longest i'v gone since i was 15,if i could turn bak the clock,but cant think like the still a long way to go.


34 and cant drink again i drank every day hard 4 10years and now im one of the 5% who dont drink in the uk i used to think that poeple who dont drink where strange,but where not i try and think of a furture with out drink thats to much at the moment when uv got 6months to live if u dont stop so one day at a time and the big twist is my partner of 18 years is an alcholic so thats hard,stay strong i keep telling my self thanks who ever reads this new member

Thanks guys,Mecanix how do u get on with poeple drinking round u,every person bar a fwe who i cant think of drink,and poeple avoid coming round because wat i'v been going though,but wel done Mecanix keep going,i hope to be sober forever but behind me,there's a man with a gun pointing at my head saying "go on get to that shop,i'll give u 3months because u no you'll hit it hard"and he's got a shirt with beer printed on it.

"Luckily" my drinking got to real anti-social proportions for many years . I did'nt have many friends left by the end of it .

These days i avoid people and places where the focus is drinking , i go to restaraunts , live music , evening classes , sometimes with giving up drinking we have to give up friendships that were focused around drinking . I used to smoke weed when i gave it up those friends who did it drifted off as well , just part of living and growing .

I can go in pubs and bars with friends / dates and i don't feel stressed about it as long as i know what my motivation is for being there , i know where the door is if things start getting too much and i don't worry about leaving people to their own devices if they want to get anti-socially drunk .

Luckily the man with the gun ain't in the driving seat in your head , you are , he's just a delusion and can't physically do anything without you going along with it . I find relaxation and meditation helps, anything that helps you deal with the up's and down's of life sober is worthwhile learning about and persuing .
