Help me
Hi,
I have been trying to get off Tramadol for months.this is my third attempt and I am hoping that it becomes my final.
Im on day 2 and the light headedness and tightness in my chest, restless leg, sweating and cramping along with very little sleep is starting to get to me. Its easy for me to go to my doctor for more but I want off!
I have been using it for 8 years gradually going up to 1000mg per day slow release! I got myself down to 150mg per day and since yesterday I have stopped! I cannot take time off work. My job is demanding and the w/ds are making it near impossible to get on with my day!
Can someone tell me what helps with the tighness in the chest and dizziness, the rest I think would be bearable if these two things could stop AND I could get to sleep properly.
I would love ANY advice please
Thank you

Welcome brandnewstart -
I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. I agree with Bigndfan, that talking to your doctor (or a doc who is an addiction specialist) might help you find a way to get through the withdrawals, or at least give you a medical excuse for work.
Glad you're here..... take a look at our substance abuse section, too:
Substance Abuse - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information
Lots of experience (and hope) there, too!

I would have to find a doctor who would not give me tramadol, they believe it is not addictive and the ones that do tell me to get out! nice huh!
nobody I know has been through this so they cannot recommend anybody that does not cost the earth (insurance will not cover it) to help me.
Thank you taking the time to respond

Hi brandnewstart
We can't give you medical advice here - it's simply against our rules.
There are helplines tho - like this one I googled.
They may be able to help.
There are a lot of free or low cost clinics around too - if there's one in your local area you might get some medical advice there?
Free/Low-Cost/Sliding-Scale Clinics
or, lastly, here:

I was on Tramadol for a while (fortunately not long because it didn't "do" anything for me) but I have since learned how addictive it is.
I have no solution but I do know you are right about the addiction and yet my doctors have told me that it is not dangerous. Perhaps it is just that they are not addicts, but the misinformation about this drug is rampant.
I hope you can find the help to go the rest of the way to get rid of it.
