Detox coming soon
Im new to this forum. Im actually new to forums in general. I have been trying to get clean for a while now and today my county finally gave me funding so i can at least go for a 5 day detox center. Im so happy about it but have this horrible feeling I will come home and screw it up. My town has become overrun with drugs. I dont have many friends around me ( my actual good friends moved away) nd the friends I do have close are still users. Im tarrafied and scared because Im alone. My own boyfriend is a user. He is going to be heading for detox soon but I will be out before he is. So im hoping that this forum will really help me on my road to recovery.
Hey Tinker,
I'm glad you got funding for a detox. Don't think too far ahead into the future. Try keeping your head in the day. When I came into recovery I had to change relationships and places. I'm not saying you are definitely going to have to but it is something you should be mindful of. The one thing about recovery is that you are never alone. If I am ever in another city I can always find a group of recovering addicts. You will be able to do this. It can be a rocky road but it does level out and get better as long as you work some type of program of recovery.
I personally attend the 12-step fellowship Narcotics Anonymous but there are other methods such AVRT, Lifering or SMART recovery. A lot of people just post on the forums to stay clean. Bottom line is you have to have some type of ongoing maintenance in your recovery. It is a beautiful thing if you work at it. Put the same amount of effort into recovery as you did into your using and you will be fine.

Welcome Tinker from Wildwood!
NA Tom is real good at this forum. You can click on his name and find other posts by him.
Nightly AA or NA meetings were part of my detox program. Just being around other addicts and alcoholics was life changing for me.
