Week 1
Hi everyone,
I am writing to document my first week of recovery. I have been an alcoholic for the last 5 years. In the last 3 years I have never went more than 2 days without a drink. A typical day for me is around 12 drinks, more on the weekends. Sleeping is the hardest part, I literally cannot fall asleep without being drunk.
Yesterday was the first day in at least 6 months that I have not had a drink, and I am nearing the end of day 2. I am taking 1 mg of klonapin each night and its was a huge help yesterday. I dont get any kind of a buzz from it, but it just seems to depress the cravings.
I will try to update this throughout the week. I really want to make it the full week, as it will be the longest I have went without a drink in at least 5 years.
Wish me luck!

Welcome to SR! Spend some time reading and posting on here this week, it helps. The first few days are tough, but once you make it through that first week it gets easier.
Looking forward to being on this journey with you!!
