New to site and 42 days clean
I have been addicted to pain pills off and on for 8 years. It recently got the worst the last 3 years. After this last time of getting in trouble with the law my eyes finally opened. I could never be the mother, wife or person I wanted to be if I kept this up.
I have been clean for 42 days and am so proud because I have never had a stretch this long. I have discovered why they say one day at a time. I have days like today where I am so discouraged and have to fight off the urges. I wonder if these awful feeling will ever pass. But there are good days that I am so thankful for. I can actually feel again which weather good or bad I am just thankful to feel. I know I have a long road ahead of me, but I take it one day at a time so I don't get overwhelmed. I am so glad I found this site because the closest meeting is 30 minutes away and I can only go on rare occations.

Congrats on the clean time!!! Be Proud of the clean time you have but also be determined to stay that way. Nobody can make you use they can only be excuses to use. Sounds like you are well on your way. This site is a god send for all addicts and use as much as you can. Stay sober and stay strong!!!!! Your pal in recovery Wes...
Hi shelly! Great job on your 42 days.
Not sure how similar pill addiction is to alcoholism, but I had those same ups & downs too. After a couple of months, the ups definitely took over. It does get better, and you'll feel less anxious. This is a great place to talk about how you're feeling - we all understand, and you aren't alone.
