I feel compelled to share my experience of tonight. I feel early recovery is sometimes very negative, so here is my boat load of positivity.

For the longest time, recovery and having a great experience in it was something that only happened to other people. I was almost convinced it would never happen to me. I am actually working the steps, and am here to tell you that they DO in fact work.

I just completed my 9th step amend(s)? to my mother. I can only describe the experience as amazing. It was one of the most rewarding things I have felt in a very long time. My reflections and thoughts about it can only be described as calm, collected, and content. Those promises have begun to manifest themselves.

I believe the word to describe this is something that has eluded me for a very long time: SERENITY

I truly believe at this moment in time I never will HAVE to pick up a drink or drug again. Sanity is now a word I once again comprehend.

Good things happen if you work for them. This recovery thing does in fact change the way I am viewing the world, for the better.

I have not yet started working the steps and have doubted that they could work for me but maybe I should give it a real try.
