For me sobriety and insomnia go hand in hand

Woke up and thought get things done. i figured it must be 7 it was 3, but here i am. Birthday over and not a penny richer. My mom did send me a book on the Irish Civil War. wars always seem to be between North and South and not East and West.

Hi, Fitz. Our main civil war right now is between drinking and sobriety)

I haven't slept worth a crap in months, and I am hoping sobering up I will eventually sleep more than two hours at a stretch again some day. I was up at 3 or 4 myself, just feeling the guilt and shame and waiting for morning.

I can't get up until five because if I stand up, my four dogs leap up and want to go out and get fed! LOL and that would in turn wake hubby and son up. Grrr, those are the times I'd like to live alone!

Try working out a bit 2 or 3 hours before you want to go to sleep. It's OK if you don't have access to a gym. You can do push ups at home, or if the weather is nice, go outside for a small walk. I had bad insomnia when I was first trying to quit drinking, but exercising and replacing my daily half liter of soda for water is letting me sleep like a baby every night.

I've been sleeping about 4-5 hours each night so far, but waking up often... I also fly for work so I'm constantly in different time zones, working odd hours, etc... my sleep habits are even a little more screwed up but overall I notice I've had more energy these last 5 days and am just needed less sleep for my body and mind to be ready for the day. I have melatonin and valerion just in case I know I need a good 6-8 hours of sleep before a 10 or 12 hour day of flying (working), but so far haven't had to use it.

There is some meditation music I listen to when I have insomnia, which is much much!!! less frequent now... Liquid Mind... They have titles like sleep, serenity, stuff like that... Use the best headphones you can because the bass frequencies are important.

There is a tea I like, probably placebo... it's called "Get Some Sleep"

I was wishing I lived alone today too! I don't have kids, but my husband works from home and can drive me nuts at times.

Fritz, sober insomnia is SO MUCH BETTER than drunk insomnia. Drinking stopped working as a sleep agent for me. It just made me so anxious I thought I was going to croak.
