130 Days Sober and I Feel Like I'm Dying
I went through some pretty bad withdrawal the first three weeks after a 20 year drinking binge but it was getting better - then BAM! I can't walk, breath, move without major pain and dizziness. I've visited ER so many times they think it's Psychosomatic. My legs are numb (nerve damage?), last night I couldn't breath, I get dizzy from the slighest exertion, and my blood pressure is all over the place. I had a seizure/migraine that mimiced a stroke (had an MRI).
I thought after four months this would pass not get WORSE. Has anyone experienced a rebound of withdrawal symptoms? I've been hit with the WEIRDEST **** I've ever gone through physically.
I felt invincible while drinking and now really sick sober - I'm getting really frustrated and pissed off.
Anyone?

I haven't any advice about that, as I haven't had any physical issues beyond digestive upset and feeling sick for a few days and being more flakey than usual. After a week for me, that's passed, but I only drank severely heavily for a year or so. I hope someone will have more good ideas for you. Have you talked to anyone who specializes in detox and alcohol related issues? BTW, welcome to a wonderful site, and congrats on your days!
I'm sorry you're not feeling well My first thought was that it may have nothing to do with alcohol, but it seems you have seen doctors about the symptoms.
Alcohol wasn't my thing, crack was, but hopefully someone else can shed some light on this.
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

Have your heard of hyperventilation syndrome it's an anxiety related problem. Not being able to catch your breath and then over breathing, makes you dizzy week etc!! I have suffered with it and it's a hard thing to diagnose as it mimics many other illnesses!!
God bless you for hanging in there! My understanding is that PAWS symptoms can peak at three to six months. I too thought I would feel better after 4 months of sobriety. But, after 32 years of binge drinking I have to realize that my body is still healing.
I hope you are feeling better today. You are not alone. It will get better for us both

After I got sober I continued to get sicker and sicker. I thought I was just nuts. Kept looking up stuff on the internet. Wrote it all off as PAWS. It was when I started looking for answers to my health problems as if I was someone I loved that I finally got some answers. Kept going to the clinic and getting diagnosed with one thing after another. I finally went to my primary care doc and told him all of the symptoms I was having instead of just the most problematic ones. He was the one who ran the blood work that began to unravel the mystery of my health problems.

Exactly, i agree....not everything is caused by alcohol, and while we drink it can mask many symptoms of other illnesses. I would go and sit on your doctor's desk and try to find a referral to a specialist or ask them to delve further.
Definitely see a doctor and it would be a good idea to log all of your symptoms. Are they doing bloodwork in the ER? You may have severe vitamin and mineral deficiencies that cause a lot of issues. I hope they can help you soon, this sounds horrible!
