The little things that mean a lot
The little things that mean a lot
A little while ago my husband gave me a card out of the blue. The front read:
" What would life be like if we had no courage to attempt anything."
-Vincent Van Gogh
Inside he wrote:
Congratulations on the last few weeks. The decisions you make every day will have a positive impact on your health as well as life. You have my support.
I love you....
This is the first time he has acknowledged my decision. I didn't push, but was hoping he would be supportive. We have had conversations in the past about cutting down. We had a great conversation tonight. I told him that I can't just cut down, I have tried and it hasn't worked. He said he knows he needs to cut down and may try to stop as well.
Just thought I would share. Hope you are all having a Good Friday.

It was nice to feel like I had his support. I also feel like be is recognizing he has a problem too. Last night was the best conversation we have had that didn't revolve around kids, and hectic schedules in a long time.

That's so lovely! Makes me all fuzzy
I remember when I was about 6 weeks sober one of my sisters gave me gift on *her* birthday;
"Where did this come from?!"
"It's because i'm proud of you & because you have a life now"
Poor thing thought she offended me because I didn't know how to react or what to say (aside from "thank you" of course ), but the gesture meant so, so much to me-I hold onto that memory dearly

Thank you guys for all of your kind posts. I feel like each of you have helped me and supported me daily and I wanted to share. I feel blessed to have a great family, and to have a great virtual family as well!!!!
