The World Can Be So Good If You Let It
The World Can Be So Good If You Let It
After my Key Lime pie we have a a casino that gives out free thanksgiving dinner for anyone that asks for it. In just got our cab company willing to pick up our people and get them to dinner. I am working with our school district on homeles ed. It really is about service. I try to get it and give it here every day. It is really funny just to go to the cab company with my story and these people are human and I am a good pitch man and like 5 minutes of talking they say OK.
Is it Ormsby House doing the free dinner? They used to be the ones that did
it on Thanksgiving for the homeless and the less fortunate when I lived there
in the mid to late '80's.
I know CC has grown some more since I lived there, but they were pretty close
to their limit at 35,000 population.
Ormsby House was also where we would go on Friday Nights after the friday night
meeting and have our coffee and pie. Then some of us would stay and gamble for
a bit and go home. I would always take my own car, because my then hubby had
already changed addictions from alcohol to gambling. That is a long story for
another time, lol
I have some very fond memories of CC from when I lived there, used to live on
Rawhide, not far from downtown, lol Then moved out to Mark Twain Estates about
17 miles east on Hwy 50. There was a neat road out there, that was only 6 miles
and brought one into the back side of Virginia City, which was nice because I had
friends from AA that lived up there.
We used to joke about it, also would work up there sometimes helping a friend. The
joke was that Virginia City only had 750 full time residents and had 35 bars, roflmao
You are doing good Fitz!!!!! Keep up the good work! We are getting into the colder
weather now and CC is not a very good place for the homeless so anything and
everything you do for them is greatly appreciated even if they don't always say so.
Enjoy your pie. Thanks to your thread, I decided I will make one tomorrow for my
grand kids as that is one of their favorites, lol Thanks for the suggestion.
Love and hugs,
