Past the FIRST week of SOBRIETY!

Hopefully the first week is and was the hardest and just gets easier to cope with going forward.

It was hard. Didn't go thru any of the DT's. Body felt very weak tough. For me it was more mental than physical withdrawals, even though I've been drinking 7-20 drinks a night for 20+ years.

Happy you made it through, JLMP. I was drinking like that, too - it's such a relief to be free.

Congrats on your week! Don't focus on what the "hardest" week or year or day is. Focus on the now. Alcoholism is a daily struggle. One day at a time, that is how we do it! I don't think about not drinking for the rest of my life, i think about not drinking today. I may drink tomorrow? Who knows? I just know that today I am not drinking. I get drunk, We stay sober!!!!!

Congrats on the week. But maintain your vigilance. It may be the hardest week for you on average, but you may still encounter the hardest minute or ten minutes ever sometime in the future. That's the way it is for me. The hardest week or two weeks is over but I continue to have very hard half hours or 15 minutes.

Hope that made sense.

Keep it up.

Physically, I found the first 3-4 days BRUTAL. However, brace yourself for the mental. Alcohol is cunning, baffling, powerful...and patient. It will wait for you.

Keep up the great work, one day at a time. One week is a huge milestone. So is 8 days, and 9, 10...etc...

Great job JLMP,
Zube

Good job, if you start to crave alcohol talk to someone. Rack those days up.

Very good, thanks for the reply to my post. I am starting today and also worried about the withdrawal symptoms due to 30 + years of drinking 5-10 per day.

Life is going to get so much better for you LMJP, I'm excited for you! Stick with it, once you get 30 days you will look back and see the struggle wasn't in vain.
