Day 4 of taper - a good day!

Happy Friday everyone.

I realized after I woke up today (I actually slept about 7 hours! ) that I was feeling pretty decent!

I'm tapering off the benzos/ambien/booze & doing very well.

Yesterday I had 1 beer at 5pm, and then 1 benzo at 10pm. That was it!!!! A typical day for me was anywhere from 3 - 15 drinks, plus 2 Ambien or 3 klonopin.

Anyway - I'm happy today. I know later tonight, or tomorrow, I may feel like a ball of crap (maybe not!), but for today - I'm happy.

I saw an old friend for lunch today, and she said "wow, you look great. You have color in your face". I was thinking - yeah, cuz I'm not a hungover mess.

It feels good to not be hungover, and not to have severe heartburn. I haven't needed a Pepcid all week. AWESOMENESS!!!

Ok - shutting up for now.

- Sparky

Tapering off alcohol never worked for me either.

Are you tapering off alcohol or pills or both? I hope it continues to go well for you.

Ditto about the tapering not working for me, either. My tapering turned into full on blackouts. 'Twas quite the slippery slope for me...

Hi Anna - I am tapering off everything together.

Initially I thought "oh, I'll just stop drinking" but realized that wasn't going to do me much good if I was taking pills every day/night.

Slow & steady should win the race for me.

today marks the end of a full week. still in the tapering process but thats more about the rx's i think. by now ive reduced pills by 50% and alcohol by 90%. hubby is proud of me

its been wild.... going to bed sober. not sleeping great but i expected it.

we went out to eat & i used to be buzzin by the time dinner came. we had awesome sparkling water instead.

weird not needing to go buy beer & wine every two days. my husband said 'hey maybe thats why i have extra money in my account'. I said yep..cuz im not adding booze into the grocery cart! :c02 that was my easiest way of getting booze into the house before.

good changes... im happy about them. hard work....more to come.

- peace to u all

I only did alcohol, but had to just quit, no tapering worked for me. Are you attending NA and have your Doc dialed in?

Keep pushing out!

hi itch.... yep my doc is in my back pocket & we discussed my plan as well. i tapered off xanax in 2006 so im an old pro heh heh.

funny.... i never abused my rx's ever. just needed them to sleep. but the alcohol has always been for getting bloody bombed. alas both need to be slowly withdrawn for me after i went thru a wicked year protracted wd from xanax.
