It was a good fight, but in the end...

The fight, to this point, has been fought from the inside out. I convinced myself that that's the only way it can be fought. The only way I will win is through sheer strength of character. The bending of my will. The defeat of my inner demons and devils. No one can be me so no one can help me.

Well I am wrong.

Nothing could be more further from the truth. It's one of life's wonderful paradoxes.

A truth.

Like love thy enemy or forgive the sinner. I am doing the opposite of what I had been fighting so long and it's turning things around for me.

What I thought would make me vulnerable has given me more strength than I could have hoped for.

You are part of this turn around. AA is part of it. My therapist as well.

By loosening the grip on life I have gained a footing.

By opening my mind I have filled my heart.

And for all of it I am thankful and sober today.

Just having to give up is such a hard yet triumphant act.

Surrender just means you are joining the winning side.

I was exactly like you. I can do this on my own through will power alone and then alcohol would kick my butt once again.

When I was completely and totally beaten I came to AA and they taught me to win I had to surrender, to get it I had to give it away. Only through WE could there be I.

I have found a new happiness that I never knew existed sounds like you have to and that strengthes my sobriety.

Thanks for the wonderful experience, strength and hope

Hmm .. afloat on the ocean of life it is sometimes better to run with the wind than sail into a hurricane , for me life is more about the journey than the destination .

Bestwishes, M

It's either that...Or fighting it is exhausting.
