Question about withdrawal, pls help

Hello arhat,
I have been sober since the first week of June. About a week after I stopped drinking, I started having panic attacks, depreesion then bad insomnia. For 6 weeks now, Im starting to feel better with the help of lexapro and ambien for sleep. My drinking habit lasted for 35 years. Im 53. I learned that is can take 12-24 months for your brain to recover. Check out PAWS, Post Acute withdrawl syndrome. I didnt have the Dts when I quit, but man did I have anxiety. I now know I was self medicating my natural tendency to have anxiety. Hang in there...Time will get your brain chemicals on track. Dont start drinking again, you will only have to start all over with the panic attacks and sleepless nights. hoosiervet
