This one just came to mind: Fleetwood Mac - Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow
If you wake up and don't want to smile,
If it takes just a little while,
Open your eyes and look at the day,
You'll see things in a different way.
Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.
Why not think about times to come,
And not about the things that you've done,
If your life was bad to you,
Just think what tomorrow will do.
Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.
All I want is to see you smile,
If it takes just a little while,
I know you don't believe that it's true,
I never meant any harm to you.
Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone.
Don't you look back,
Don't you look back.
I love this thread and will add more as they come to me.

Delbert McClinton - Sending Me Angels
Standing on the bank of a river
By the shore
Seems like the devil's always tryin'
To get in my door
Just when I thought I
Couldn't take it anymore
Here he came again
My friend
He keeps sending me angels,
From up on high
He keeps sending me angels,
To teach me to fly
He keeps sending me angels,
Sweet and true
He keeps sending me angels,
Just... like... you...
As I stand on this mountain
Face to the wind,
Amazed by the number of times I have sinned,
And the countless number of enemies
That should have been friends
Here he comes again,
My friend
He keeps sending me angels,
Here they come a-flyin'
He keeps sending me angels,
To keep me from cryin'
He keeps sending me angels,
Sweet and true
He keeps sending me angels,
Just... like... you...
Some say that it's comin'
I say that it's already here
The love that's among us through
The joy and the fear
When I look into your eyes
Everything is so clear
My friend, oh here he comes again
He keeps sending me angels,
From up on high
He keeps sending me angels,
To teach me to fly
He keeps sending me angels,
Sweet and true
He keeps sending me angels,
Just... like... you

On a FM note, how about Landslide. What a pretty song. Also like, well most of their stuff. They don't make it that good anymore. For modern songs, there's an artist called Adele who has a song I love. The name escapes me, though. Got the song in my head. Someone like you, maybe.

Aside by The Weakerthans
I was cycling this morning pretty hard and listening to songs on my Nano. This song came on, and I realized just how much it applies to the plight of many people around here, especially those trying to get through that first week. It's called Aside by The Weakerthans--great song for exercising or just cranking it up loud:
The Weakerthans - Aside - YouTube
Lyrics, copyright The Weakerthans
Measure me in metered lines
And one decisive stare
The time it takes to get from here to there
My ribs that show through t-shirts
And these shoes I got for free
I'm unconsoled
I'm lonely
I am so much better than I used to be
Terrified of telephones
And shopping malls and knives
Drowning in the pools of other lives
Rely a bit too heavily
On alcohol and irony
Get clobbered on by courtesy
In love with love and lousy poetry
And I'm leaning on this broken fence
Between past and present tense
And I'm losing all those stupid games
That I swore I'd never play
But it almost feels okay
Circumnavigate this body
Of wonder and uncertainty
Armed with every precious failure
And amature cartography
I'm breathing deep before
I spread those maps out on my bedroom floor
And I'm leaning on this broken fence
Between past and present tense
And I'm losing all those stupid games
That I swore I'd never play
But it feels okay
And I'm leaving with goodbye
And I'm losing but I'll try
With the last ways left
To remember sing
My imperfect offering

T. Graham Brown - Wine into Water
You've hear a multitude of prayers on my behalf
I pray that one more is not too much to ask
I've tried to fight this battle by myself
But it's a war that I can't win without your help
To-night I'm as low as any man can go
I'm down and I can't fall much farther
And once upon a time you turned the water into wine
Now on my knees I'm turning to you father
Could you help me turn the wine back into water
So many times I've hurt the ones I love
I pushed them to the edge of giving up
They've stood by me but how much can they stand
If I don't put this bottle in you hands
Tonight I'm as low as any man can go
I'm down and I can't fall much farther
And once upon a time you turned the water into wine
Now on my knees I'm turning to you father
Could you help me turn the wine back into water
I shook my fist at heaven for all the hell that I've been through
Now I'm beggin' for forgiveness and a miracle from you, cause
Tonight I'm as low as any man can go
I'm down and I can't fall much farther
And once upon a time you turned the water into wine
Now on my knees I'm turning to you father
Could you help me turn the wine back into water

I love the Weakerthans. This is a good one too, though just a little depressing.
"Plea From A Cat Named Virtute"
Why don’t you ever want to play?
I’m tired of this piece of string
You sleep as much as I do now and you
Don’t eat much of anything
I don’t know who you’re talking to
I’ve made a search through every room
But all I found was dust that moved
And shadows of the afternoon
And listen
About those bitter songs you sing
They aren’t helping anything
They won’t make you strong
So we should open up the house
Invite the tabby two doors down
You can ask your sister if
She doesn’t bring her basset hound
And as for things you shouldn’t miss
Tape hiss and the modern man
Cold war and card catalogues
To come and join us if they can
For girly drinks and parlour games
We’ll pass around the easy lie
Of absolutely no regrets
Then later maybe you could try
To let your losses dangle off
The sharp edge of the century
We’ll talk about the weather or
How the weather used to be
And I’ll cater
With all the birds that I can kill
Let their tiny feathers fill
Disappointment
Lie down
Lick the sorrow from your skin
Scratch the terror and begin
To believe you’re strong
All you ever want to do is drink and watch TV
Frankly that thing doesn’t really interest me
I swear I’m going to bite you hard
And taste your tinny blood
If you don’t stop the self-defeating lies you’ve been repeating
Since the day you brought me home
I know you're strong

"Virtute The Cat Explains Her Departure"
Send "Virtute The Cat Explains Her Departure" Ringtone to your Cell
It had something to do with the rain leeching loamy dirt
And the way the back lane came alive, half moon whispered "go"
For a while, I heard you missing steps in the street
And your anger pleading in an uncertain key
Singing the sound of you that you found for me
When the winter took the tips of my ears
Found this noisy home full of pigeons and places to hide
And when the voices die, I emerged to watched abandoned machines
Waiting for their men to return, I remember the way
I would wait for you to arrive with kibble and a box full of beer
How I'd scratch the empties desperate to hear
You make the sound that you found for me
After scrapping with the ferals and the tabby,
Let you brush my matted fur
How I'd knead into your chest while you were sleeping
Shallow breathing made me purr
But I can't remember the sound that you found for me
I can't remember the sound that you found for me
I can't remember the sound

Nice ones, Sobersunshine!
Those are some excellent tracks! Another one which is a bit depressing, but we've all been there. Bittersweet, and yet such a good song--None of the Above, by the Weakerthans.
Here is the video, live: The Weakerthans - None of the Above (4&more live in San Francisco) - YouTube
All night restaurant, North Kildonan.
Luke warm coffee tastes like soap.
I trace your outline in spilled sugar
Killing time and killing hope.
This brand new strip mall chews on farmland,
As we fish for someone to blame.
But we communicate in questions,
And all our answers sound the same.
Under sputtering florescence
After re-fills are re-filled
Negotiations at a stand-still,
Spoon and rolling saucer stilled.
If you ask how I got so bitter,
I'll ask how you got so vain.
And all our questions blur together.
The answers always sound the same.
We can't look at one another
I'll say something thoughtful soon.
But I can't listen to the quiet
So I hum this mindless tune
I stole from some dumb country-rock star.
I don't even know his name.
It's like my stupid little questions:
The answers always sound the same.
Tell me why I have to miss you so?
Tell me why we sound so lame?
Why we communicate in questions
And all our answers sound the same?

I love all types of music, too. Everything, lately even getting into country because my 4 yr old son digs it (it started w/ Johnny Cash, his favorite person next to me).
I write electronic music, though, ambient, and also faster stuff. I write what I'm in the mood to hear, and it's a really great outlet for the ton of emotions that are always brewing inside of me. Lately the work has just been bursting out like a dam broke...
I have a Soundcloud page. There's a song that I've realized was the most recent 'hitting bottom' period for me (there've been a lot of hitting bottom in the past 20 years, but this was a month ago). It's the 3rd song from the top (and yeah that's what I took my s/n from but changed the number to hopefully avoid google).
I've been listening to this song in the car and it gets me through my darker emotions, while other things, like the top song, are more representative about the light at the end of the tunnel.
If any of ya'll are curious, here's the page: Litlbeast's sounds on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free
(and I don't know if my stuff is anybody's taste here, but if you do like a track and want a copy, lemme know )
