I estimated what I'd spent on alcohol in the last year....wow. I could've gone on a trip! Or bought a car (a cheap car, mind, but I don't have any car lol). I've been thinking of setting up a separate bank account and, like people sometimes do when they quit smoking, adding money I would've wasted on booze but didn't. A trip, a new haircut, a visit to the art gallery, a pleasant dinner out, etc. ANYTHING would be a better use of that money than sitting alone in my living room, and not remembering a darn thing in the morning. What a waste!

A little over two weeks sober and so far ive spent the extra cash on expensive bottled water to drink instead of alcohol, lovely herbal teas, and books on recovery and mindful living. I think a pair of runners is next. That still puts me ahead in the finances! Then I will work on the credit card debt. Can't wait for extra cash I'll have when I give up the smokes!
