Opiate Addict 6 Days Sober
To all, I am a 3 year recovering Opiate Addict. I detoxed through a medical center, and got home yesterday. Have an appointment with a Psychiatrist, Monday. Until then I am struggling and taking lots of deep breaths! I am not going back to pills, I am moving ahead, but hurting right now. I live in the middle of nowhere without any local AA/NA meetings. I know they say 1 day at a time, and lord knows I am trying. I would like to find out what others are doing to stay sober? And when these cravings if ever stop. I am fighting MYSELF! Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site...It baffles me how many people with drug or alcohol problems live in the middle of nowhere...Unreal. I guess you could speak with your doctor and see what he/she recommends for a recovery plan....Or look into AVRT or some other recovery method...Glad you are here.

Did they give you a aftercare plan to follow?
You could also make sure you stay safe by not going
around people who have addicted substances...
Glad you are heading into a better future without drugs
Welcome...

Thank you all!
Thank you all, I know drugs are everywhere and people buy and use them. I feel I don't want to take any counter active drugs, I want to face this head on and conquer it! I feel extremely overwhelmed! Again, thank you all!

Just hang in there and know that the cravings will get better with time. TIME...that's key in feeling better.
I'm 113 days out from a 20 year habit...been through rehab, rapid detox, and the suboxone route over the past 10 years. This time it has to stick. My 38 year marriage depends on it.
Keep in mind that the more you don't give in to the cravings, the easier it will be to fight those crazy thoughts.
Make this work now cuz it'll only get harder. I can promise you that.
Just keep fighting and try and keep it in the day.
