Burroughs just published another book, and I can't recall the title! I picked it up at the library and almost finished it in one setting. REALLY good.

Actually I do recall a vague feeling of guilt over my drinking appearing after I read that...probably had the same reaction as you

Later on I began to feel empowered, if she could do it so could I. I learned that she died, and that made me stronger to quit. I didn't want to die a drunk.

Somebody needs to write "Drinking: A War Story", even things out a bit...
We've got Hemingway's "Islands in the Stream" for that. Every damned page it seems "he made a gin drink with plenty of ice and a few drops of bitters", "they had gin drinks with coconut water and a twist of lime" etc etc etc
