I'm a week man.
Thankfully it's not a typo. Completed 7 days today and feeling very pleased with myself. The past 2 days have been the hardest which I put down to not having to be at work where I can focus on other things. Previous failed attempts have taught me that weekends are the hardest for a number of different reasons. I've been extremely tired (exhausted at times) but I've just learned to go with it and listen to my body/brain when it needs a rest. Overall mood has improved and although suffering from lethargy I feel a lot calmer and less anxious than when I was drinking.
I'm quite looking forward to having a shower, putting the jammy's on and snuggling up with the wife in front of a good movie (unheard of when I was drinking). I find it quite amazing in sobriety how the simplest things bring the most pleasure yet when drinking they seem boring and mundane.
Doesn't it feel good to not have to spend all Sunday worrying about Monday morning?
Slowly learning to be greatful. Good luck to all!
Julynine.

Congratulations Julynine! (=
I'm on day 2 right now, and I know how hard the weekends can be! Just think of how great you'll feel when you have 2 weeks, 3 weeks and so on and so fourth!
Keep moving forward!

Congrats Julynine
And yes, the little things are good in sobriety. Butterflies flitting by, fluffy little clouds. Fresh picked berries. Birds singing in the trees (although it doesn't pay to think too much about what they're actually saying).

Sounds like you're loving the peace.
That makes me smile for you...7 days in and you are feeling the benefits.
My anxiety from drinking was destroying me...it stopped completely when I put down the poison.
Good stuff!

Your growing if you can do seven days once you can do it again and even more! Glad to hear someone positive. If don't become the person you fear to become you never learn how to not be that person you didn't want to be and it's not all your fault when life gets in the way some time. If you never fall you can never learn to pick yourself up nor learn to win without learning to lose. In the end when you recover and give everything you can and push you will see it was worth what you went through and what you learned from the entire experience seeing you can do what you think you can't!
