Dr Today

Im going to see my GP today who I have been lying to .. I cant keep feeling sick all day and drunk every night .. I have read extensivly , posts on this forum , and not one person who is sober says that it is unpleasant or bad.
My life is slowly stopping, my wife said I do less and less around the house, all I do is go to work and my hours are cut down considerably.

I have to tell him the whole truth and im quite scared about what will happen.

I know Im killing myself with 3 bottle of wine every night and I want to stop .

I'm glad you're being honest with your Dr, Lip.
Hopefully this can be the start of something really good for you & your family

I don't think you'll find one anywhere that will..

My guess is he'll tell you to quit....Which you already know...What's the safest way for you to detox is...Maybe recommend a recovery program for you....And your anxiety will greatly decrease....Like you just had a huge weight lifted off of you. Being totally honest....It's a great step in the right direction.

I saw my doctor last week, my follow up after medical detox. She had no idea how much I had been drinking but there was no judgement just how are you feeling, what are you doing etc.... they have seen it all before.

It is best to be honest with her and she/he will help and offer the best advice.

Good Luck and keep us in the loop.

The worse part of getting honest, always, is thinking about it ahead of time. I think it's the same with sobriety, too.

Glad you're back!

It'd hard to tell your Dr. the truth, I got teary, but it's a relief to get it out in the open and move forward into sobriety. You can do it!

That's a tough one. Being honest with your doctor means also being honest with yourself and hearing yourself talk about it out loud to another person. But this is your doctor, and chances are, he's heard/seen it before. I doubt you'll receive any judgment or criticism, just concern for your wellbeing and a solid, healthy plan for getting through detox and on your way to sobriety.

Good luck to you and please do let us know how it went.

We'll be here for you as much as we can be. Whatever happens with the Dr has got to be better than what you're going through right now.
