Hello Community
Hi Dave,
I've had a few job offers pulled because of my DUI. It shows I have a criminal record and many companies have a policy that prevents them from hiring me. Ironically, I drank even more because of it.

Hi Dave, welcome to SR!
I'm sorry I don't have experience with that myself, as I was fortunate enough to get sober before I got a DUI. I do know several people that have dealt with that problem though, and I can tell you there is hope as long as you are persistent.
I would encourage you to be up front about your legal problems, and if you are sober now you can mention that as well. If you think you can hide it you can't, as I know background checks for more employers are becoming more and more thorough.
Best wishes

lol
i understand that!! when i see the question have you ever been convicted, i think of someone who has done prison time. lol that can't be me, but it so is me. it hurts a lot and i'm a CJ major and working in security, and mental health field with kids and adults has been my thing until now. i'm not going to give up though, i have to keep pushing ahead without drinking.
I had three DUIs back in the 90s. I was honest and up front in the interviews that I had since then and have had two great jobs. Now I run my own business so its not an issue. I don't think it's necessarily a death sentence.
God bless.
