I swear that it gets harder each time!

About me: First and foremost, I'd like to introduce myself to the forums. I am a recovering drug addict whom has done many drugs throughout my short life of 23 years.

Method: I've smoked, drank, and insufalated my drugs, never poked. To paint a clearer picture, I've been addicted to marijuana, cigarettes, cocaine, and alcohol throughout various phases and different times. At my worst point, I would mix all of these together.

Success: I have tried quitting many times throughout the past 7 years. The longest time I was able to quit for was six months. When I say "quit" I've never quit everything at once. I've either just smoked, or just drank.

History: My chances were higher to start smoking cigarettes because a lot of my family smoked, including my parents. My uncle is an alcoholic and drug addict and both of my parents drink.

Furthermore: Right now, I've awoken from yet another restless night of sleep. Whether it be night terrors, night sweats, etc. I've been feeling really manic this past week since quitting cigarettes, alcohol, and marijuana together.

I'm very proud of myself but feel my energy levels are low. I'm sleeping whenever I can and eating a lot. I have a really addictive personality, so whenever I end up quitting drugs, I start eating a lot. I've also been masturbating a lot a meticulously picking out the best porn to watch.

I've also felt ridiculously restless this week. My head still feels very clouded albeit I've been able to think more clearly. I understand my body needs to cleanse and detox.

This week, I've decided to start listening to more binaural beats, daily affirmations, and working out lightly again. I know I'll feel better once a daily and weekly routine comes back.

I'm attending school right now once a day (in the mornings) and have recently been accepted into university. I definitely have a lot to look forward to. I am going to try my best not to be distracted this week. My studies overwhelm me especially when I'm not managing my time properly.

Thanks,
Impresario

Welcome Impresario. I am a big believer that we learn every time we move to a positive change. It is hard not to make the same mistakes twice, but if we keep going we get there in the end.

If someone had told me 12 months ago I would be over 9 months sober today I would have been dumbfounded. There are challenges but it is all doable!

Time will take care of your current remaining issues guaranteed if you just keep your eye on the prize. Exercise and healthy eating are two of the best thinks you can do to assist. Good work.

Welcome to SR! Yeah, it does get harder every time...that is why you want to do everything you can to make it this time. Good luck to you, and take care.

Welcome Impresario!

Glad you've joined us! This is a great place to come for support and inspiration.

My energy level was really low for a while, too. It really does get better, though, so hang in there. Congratulations on your university acceptance!

Wow... Thanks for the gracious love people! I feel very welcomed now.

Bob, no offence or anything however, I don't find NA very effective for me. A lot of the people at NA are broken and damaged and make me feel depressed sitting there. I'd much rather prefer volunteering at an outreach centre which I've applied for today.

How is AA working for you? What's your story?

Welcome glad that you are here. You can do this deal, Just For Today ... One Day At A Time

Sometimes we have to break things down to minutes and or seconds. I had a bad start today, ended up not too bad. Life will work it's way out as long as we stay out of the way.

Just for now, Just for today..
