Day Nine: Found a Meeting I Like
Day Nine: Found a Meeting I Like
It's Day Nine and I'm pretty solid. I had known about a women's meeting on Monday evenings for a year or so but I finally went tonight. It was just fine and I will be attending there for the foreseeable future.
I'm trying to decide who needs to know about my recovery plan (or I suppose that I'm an alcoholic). I think sharing with a few people might be helpful, but I want to be careful about how my behavior is assessed.
So, anyway, it's Monday, I'm tired, and I'm going strong.
Thank you SR.

totally get what you're saying Missy. I wonder who i should tell as well, and how they will see me. i have told my partner, and a couple of close friends...i guess there is no reason right now to make a big announcement...or is it better to make the announcement that i have a drinking problem??
You will find that no one really NEEDS to know about your decision/revelation just yet. I would strongly suggest going with what Dee suggested, which is just work on yourself and get yourself better before going to "explain" yourself. In my experience, it was much better to just wait and then tell people once I had some self-confidence back. This way, I was able to tell them what I wanted to tell them instead of trying to explain myself (like a victim). Good luck Missy, and I hope you have a great week!
