TOPIC: Airing Out Dirty Laundry
TOPIC: Airing Out Dirty Laundry
In early recovery as we begin to take those
first steps to clean and clear away the clutter
of our addiction lives, we learn that we don't
have to air our our dirty laundry, so to speak
to the pubilc.
Which means, when we share our own experiences,
strengths and hopes of what it was like before,
during and after we don't necessarily have to
share every scratch, itch, grab, cussing, wipe, kiss
azz, snife, rude, pull, crass word or action we did when
under the enfluence.
In cleaning up the mess we made of ourselves,
we learn about politeness, curtesy, respect, not
only for ourselves but towards others too.
Recovery is a learning process to take us out
of the depth of despair to a life of humility, joy,
trust, caring, freindships, fellowships, respect.
Airing out a list of dirty laundry is not appealing,
stinks or not attractive and much of a turn off.
Which takes away from the lady or gentlemen
person in recovery that you are.
We can smell nice in recovery and leave the dirty
laundry by the back door in a trash bin.

Anything and everything.
Sometimes while i listen to another share
what's going on with them in their life right
now, looking for some wise words to guide
them away from their resentments, anger,
aggrivation, they tend to go off and get personal.
Personal, private things that should be shared
with a sponsor, close friend, within the family,
but not out loud to people who dont know them.
The person that begins to share about his
wife or husband, girlfriend, boyfriend, neighbor
etc. how they get physical in the bedroom, or
sharing about their junk in their trunk
or what size undergarment someone wears,
.....things along that line.
I guess they are personal private topics I would
refer to as dirty laundery airing out in public.
We get so use to just talking with little thought
about what we may say and forget people are
listening to every word we share.
