I've been afraid to try AA. I live in a small town where everyone knows your business and I work in the public sector. I'm afraid of looking bad. So I'm trying to do it on my own and so far so good. This thread has been very helpful.

Katrinka,
If you need it use it. Just don't be judgmental of others. Good or bad.

I wish you the best with your choice. It's comforting to know that AA will be there if you need it.

My town is about 15k pop. and at the meeting this morning was most of the respected business and political leaders (and the police chief).

This has been helpful. I found a meeting I can attend after work tomorrow. It will really be my first ever. I just hope I don't chicken out tomorrow

I wouldn't worry about it. From my experience, all of three weeks, AA is like Las Vegas. What goes on at AA, stays at AA. It will change your life and make quitting much more tolerable.

Good job on getting the white chip jwolf!! That was the toughest for me to get.

The diversity of people in meetings is one of the things I like about them. Addiction does not discriminate. We are all just a drink away from disaster.

Get you a sponser and work the steps, it will change your life.

God bless.
