3rd day- Not a big deal but feels good

This is my 2nd attempt to end my heavy drinking of 8 years. Last time , I stopped for a month completely and faced slight discomforts but no major withdrawal symptoms, except difficulty in sleeping. Just went back to drinks after one month of sober period , due to some emotional issue .

Things have not been as bad as like reaching bottom but my health has been taking a toll . During my recent regular health checkup, the tests for Liver function and Lipid profile are on slightly higher side so it is time for me to stop unnecessary consumption of one and half bottle of wine every day.

This is the 3rd day and had no major problem so far. I am sure Dee will ask what is different that you plan to do this time as he does to everyone. OK, I plan to do the following .

1. Regular Exercise.
2. Socializing more with friends whom I know , just do not drink .
3. Spend free time ( now available from those 4 to 5 hours, wasted everyday evening , drinking ) to sharpen my skills on the sport I love and sharpen my knowledge to help my business.

Any more suggestions from all our SR friends are most welcome and will be highly appreciated.

I have been a big fan of SR and I would like to thank all SR members for their support and encouragement.

hey llastchance

thanks for saving me the trouble, lol

I think supports important too - I often found it easier not to drink when I was busy - but you can't stay busy 168 hours a week...sometimes you have to 'be with yourself' and that usually where the trouble started again for me.

Hope to see you around here more
Welcome back
D

Congrats on your 3 days. It is a big deal-its a good thing to do.

Lots of water, food when your body says eat helped for me. I've also discovered my love of reading and walks on frosty mornings!!

Good luck.

I agree, it IS a big deal. Any day sober for an alcoholic is a big deal, and a chance to start again no matter how many times we've fallen.

Sounds like you have a plan, stick to it and I hope it works for you.

Great job on the 3 days!!! That's a long time for an alcoholic not to drink!!

Have you thought about working any kind of program, such as AA, smart, etc.?

Amass all the weapons you can in this battle.

God bless.
