6 Months Clean

I am new to the board and wanted to introduce myself by posting. Currently, I am an active member of AA & have been clean for over 6 months. Personally, the last 3-6 months of sobriety has been the hardest. The pink cloud is gone and life comes at you fast.

Tonight, I plan to attend my first NA meeting and was wondering what others thought about attending them. My DOC was Adderall and Benzo's. I detoxed by myself at home with the help of a professional. This was by far the worst experience of my life. I look forward to sharing my story with others in hope that it might help someone who needs it.

Hi FlyingRight

I'm not a member of either group so I have no experience to share

I do welcome you to SR tho - you'll find a lot of support here

Hi there,

You and I have something in common.....I have four months sober today. Yeah, things hit pretty hard once the three months of sobriety hit, but they get better. I think it is just that our mind is getting clearer and the denial of the results of our alcoholic behavior begins to lift. However, even though uncomfortable/bad things have happened since after the three months of sobriety have passed I have found that I can deal with them better - it is called handling things without living better through chemistry. Drinking never made anything better, I know you know that - you are two months ahead of me! Nobody told me life would be a bed of roses if I quit drinkng, but at least now I have a life. Take care and keep strong!

Welcome...glad you're here. Congratulations on the 6 months.
I'm an alcoholic so I can't help you with the NA meetings -but if it's anything like AA it can't hurt at all!

(((FlyingRight))) - Welcome to SR! Back when I went to meetings, though I primarily did AA (even though I was an addict), I did go to some NA meetings. They were good, there just weren't enough of them and most in there were younger than I. I'm glad you enjoyed the meeting, and congratulations on 6 months!!

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Welcome, FlyingRight!

Congratulations on your 6 months clean. It's great that you're reaching out for some support - maybe it will be the spark you need right now. I don't think I could have gotten through the first year without SR and it's still a part of my daily routine.

Congrats on 6 months.
NA meetings are great but hard for me to find so I attend AA.
Adderall & alcohol were my drugs of choice also.

Nogard- I have a lot of questions about N/A. What surprised me the most was how comfortable I felt in the room. Part of the reason could be my familiarity with AA but it seemed more laid back if that's possible.
