The New Me: Sleepytime Tea & Melatonin
Sleepytime is my favorite but doesn't do much since I drink it all the time not just at bedtime. When I'm feeling anxious I add valerian. You can also get Sleepytime with valerian in it.
Mugwort, Skullcap and Chamomille work good, too.

It's just a brand of decaf really. I think it has a little too much flavoring coloring and not enough tea, but it's all a matter of preference.
I like to drink green tea, because it has a unique flavor, and it's *naturally* caffeine free.

Hi, I have an anxiety-related sleep disorder (adult night terrors) and have been trying to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier (regulate my sleeping routine) to try to decrease them. I have prescription meds (ambien, and clonozapan or something like that) but would like to beat this naturally because they are habit-forming and have negative side effects. The sleep disorder specialist I saw recommended melatonin, but said that people take it wrong... we should be taking it about 3 hours before bedtime/before we want to fall asleep. That way it acts like a primer pump for our natural melatonin production, whereas if we wait until bed time, our brain sees it there already and thinks it doesn't have to make much more of it. So I've been trying this and it has worked really well for me. I start feeling more sleepy and relaxed about 45 min or so after I take it, and then by the time I had planned to go to bed, I am fighting off sleep, which is good, and rare for me (I was always such a night owl). My therapist also recommended chamomile tea but I haven't tried that yet. She said to wait until I'm ready to nod off, without anything else to do but sleep, before I drink it, because the relaxing sleep-inducing stage hits fast and if I don't take advantage of it, it passes within 30 minutes.
I'm glad you're sleeping well. Good luck to everyone trying to improve their sleep. So far my night terrors have decreased in frequency, which is good. I have been having quite realistic, almost mundame dreams, kind of like sitting through a day at work or a not quite exciting telephone call with my mom... very strange, but I'll take it over poor sleep and night terrors any night!

I use the exact same combination!
I do find I have some wierd dreams from the melatonin though. Its crazy how much a warm glass of milk with some sleepy tea can help your anxiety. I NEVER used to be able to sleep without several beers but sleepy tea, melatonin and a good book are just as good, sometimes even better.

You have to be a little careful with Melatonin. If you take it every night your body will adapt and you'll have to up the doseage to get the same effects. Melatonin isn't dangerous (as far as I know) but it'll just cost you a bit more if you keep having to up the doseage.
People often think that if something is natural it's not dangerous but it's always a good idea to check with your Dr before starting any supplement.
What worked for someone else may not be suitable for you, especially if you are on other medications or have certain medical conditions.

If you want a hot beverage resembling tea that is not caffeinated you may want to look into herbal teas, or tisanes, which do not have any of the tea plant in them but *are* naturally decaffeinated.

Yes, I was addicted to Yogi tea...made sure I cut those coupons out of the box! But I found it to be expensive when I was drinking 3 or 4 cups a day so I went back to sleepytime or the celestial brands.
