Kill the liquid armor
Hi - I'm beginning today. I'm not an everyday drinker but I do have a problem with binge drinking. It's become a "crutch" and have been struggling for years to stop drinking completely. I find as I get older, I use it to self-medicate myself to relax -- I don't handle it well anymore and want to quit, but I'm having difficulty. I joined this forum in hopes of connecting with those who have had a similiar problem and could offer advice and support. My husband is being supportive -- he wants to attend AA meetings with me so that he can be more effective. I hope that this forum will help me and I look forward to corresponding with you all.
Your story sounds exactly like mine. I think it is probably harder for those of us who were not daily drinkers to quit. If I have normal days in between I don't have a problem, right? But I too am not handing alcohol as well anymore. It is imperative that I get control of it. Four beers in an evening and I am now quite sick the next morning. Add a cocktail and I'm sick all day--and the weight!
I have to do this this time. I hope you are doing well too.

Hi Begrateful and welcome!
I found it impossible to stop on my own, too, which is why I came here. It's nice to be around people who understand and have been where we're at.
You're making a great decision - keep reading and posting!
