Sasa, did you lose the weight by just not drinking? I really need to lose the weight also. Since I have only been sober a week I am trying to focus on eating healthy and doing some walking. I'm trying to be patient and not get too angry or depressed about the weight. I'd really like to ride my horses and I feel too fat.

yes I lost the weight by not drinking. Once I quit drinking I stopped eating junk food since I had no desire for fatty foods anymore. Now I am enjoying veggis and fruits, even a salad. Before you could have chased me around the world with these types of food.... It seems to me alcohol made me crave the wrong foods .

Thanks Sasa. Hope I start losing now that I'm not drinking all the beer and eating junk food.

This is an amazing side effect of being sober. I found that by losing weight I addressed a lot of the problems I was papering over with alcohol. Mainly poor self esteem.

If I took some time I could write a long list of the ways in which my life has gotten better since getting sober. But the biggest thing is just waking up feeling good and not hating myself anymore.
