Past due here

Afternoon all,

I just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for all the posts that inspired me before my quit and continue to do so after. Day 8 for me and every day gets easier, better, and so much more fufilling than when I was drinking.

That's GREAT!!!!! Excellent news and I'm so glad you're feeling so positive about your sober time.

Hi wommp. I was past due, too. Many years past due - but when I found SR I got all the hope & encouragement I needed to begin my new life. I hope you'll feel the same.

You have a great attitude, and that's so important. I'm sorry to say I was very resentful & angry in the beginning, but I'd used alcohol to buffer me against life for so long, I didn't know any other way of coping. It was wonderful to learn to live again, this time with eyes wide open.

Looking forward to hearing more about you, and congratulations!

I think all my anger and resentment manifested when I was drinking. Now it's just sweet relief not scheduling life around drinking, impairing relationships... plus, waking up clean and respecting myself doesn't hurt either. I have a feeling that a lot of my optomism comes from having gotten off insanely easy on withdrawals considering the length of time I drank and amount of alcohol I consumed daily. I can't imagine a second go round would be as easy, and don't plan to find out. Thanks again!
