Hello everybody! Well I just returned home from my very first AA meeting! I went to a closed mens stag meeting close to where I live. There sure were some characters in there! People were so friendly it was kind of shocking! I'm not used to people being that friendly here in Los Angeles! All walks of life were at that meeting - doctors, homeless people, lawyers, construction workers, elderly people and average Joes. I'd say there were around 50 people there total. All in all, it was a very positive, uplifting experience and I plan to go to the meeting again next Monday night.

I almost always feel better after a meeting. It's encouraging to see ordinary people living ordinary lives and doing it without drugs and alcohol.

That's great news! Glad to hear your first meeting was so interesting.
So why wait till Monday? Hit as many meetings as you can, is my advice. Maybe you'll make new friends if you do, and have the same, or better, experience.

I agree with Ghostlight. Try some other meetings too. I think theer is more to it than just what group is there. They are led differently too.

I'm going to one at noon.

Isn't it amazing how kind everyone is at meetings? They are so terrifying to go into the first time and it is amazing how different everyone is. You can never tell walking down the street who has what problem. Good for you for going to your meeting! Reminds me I need to go to one

Thanks everyone! I never knew how much support there is out there and how many people are in the same boat as I am. It's comforting to know that I truly am not alone.

There may be daily meetings there, call your intergroup office, check "aa your city" online!
