Question about volunteering
Hello all,
Hope everyone's day has been well. I have a question that I'm hoping you guys can give some suggestions on.....
Has anyone volunteered their time to help other alcoholics (aside from AA)? I would like to volunteer in some fashion but I'm not sure really where to start.
I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks,
J

Hi LIC
Well, I'm Australian - I've done various community volunteering but not specifically with alcoholics - I guess there'd be opportunities in shelters, soup kitchens, maybe even some rehabs and detox centres ?
I'm not sure where you live but I hope some others here will have experiences to share that are closer to home

Not exactly....but I did do Red cross stuff for years and a few years with a free city run health clinic.
then my physical conditions worsened ..nothing to do with alcohol...so those were no longer an option.
Being both active in AA and SR keeps me very busy these days..

Your local free or very low cost county/city detox can probably use the help, and the Salvation Army does a lot of work with alcoholics. I would check with them to see if they need more volunteers.
