F it...Im going to AA tonight.
You don't have to say anything. I've been going pretty much everyday for about 4 months. I've only just started sharing during meetings.
They might ask if there are any newcomers that would like to introduce themselves but you don't even have to do that if you don't want to. If they go around the room you can just say "I pass". They understand.

Yeah, I know AA
Best of luck- SH

Hey ** , sure i tell ya what my first meeting was like
It was June 25 th 2011, it was what we call a lead meeting so in other words i got there meet some people outside chit chat, then went in , we go through a couple readings, first is the AA preamble then soemone was choosen to read the steps and the last is the suggested of AA,
Then then the serenity prayer and the chairperson of the month is responsible for geeting someone in to tell their story(the lead) it lasts just under or around an hour , then floor is open for comments to that person about there story.
And thats it , stick around and talk with others we call it (fellowship)
Then other meeting like big book discussion or daily readings are simply that people read a couple pages out of those books and they are just open for discussion.
So dont worry about talking or telling any part of your story , you wont have to say anything
Just give it a try , i hope it works for you as for myself. \
I am on my way to a meeting now so I got to run, its 98 degrees yuk and i ride a bike lol
but I look forward to hearing how it went .

except for your crazy accents
OK..so I found it...I felt out of place at first..but everyone was great.
It lasted quite a long time, I think it was because they had to change it because there was a new member (me) there.
I ended up going for a coffee with someone there and we talked for a long time and exchanged numbers. Not sure if he is my sponsor? haha
But he said to call any time. He was in the exact same situation as me years ago.
Emergency appointment with the doc tomorrow and get some tablets to come off...
(it takes 2 weeks for an appointment so need to get 1 before the weekend..)
I need something to stop the itching, shakes, sweats etc.
Forward we go...side by side-Rest In Peace

Good for you.....
When you feel like taking a drink..do call that man first and say what is going on.
That is why he gave you his number...and by helping you ...you are helping him too.

Right on ** glad you went
I just got home myself from a meeting also good stuff.
I was taught to get at least two numbers at each meeting , so then you have a good line with people, so if you need to talk.
Good luck with the doctor good to hear you'll see him/her for detoxing, cause that can really be bad news.
I personally wound up in the ICU once.
And was smart enough to go to the ER on my last (hopefully forever).
Keep comin back lol

** so proud of you, we were all waiting on here with baited breath to see if you were going to find a place and you did, not only that you went, not only that you stayed in spite of being faced with people you know! All I can say is brilliant achievement
Now keep going, keep posting, stay well and strong
