Day 10 accomplishment
Day 10 accomplishment
Hello New SR friends:
I wanted to say a big thanks for all of the unconditional support I have received from your responses and posts the past week. 2 weeks ago I was drinking and depressed and feeling hopeless. You have all shown me this can be done and life can be better.
Today I finally had the courage to speak to a headhunter who has been contacting me. I haven't ever returned the calls because I was scared or drunk. The call lasted quite awhile and I was (a) sober and (b) a little nervous, but made it through with a little bit of confidence?
Taking the first big step reaching out here lead me to my next big step of getting myself back out there and beginning to focus on finding a job. I know it's a long road ahead for both sobriety and finding a job - but your strength and support was instrumental in this step today.
I didn't think this was possible a 2 weeks ago, so again, many thanks.

Good goin'!
I always click on these "accomplishment" threads in the Newcomer's forum with a bit of trepidation--often they seem to be about how somebody went into a bar and hung around a bunch of drunks without picking up a drink. Now THAT'S not an "accomplishment" IMO--that's being foolhardy. Lots of times a few days or weeks later the person is posting about how they went to another one--and this time (SHOCK!!) they DRANK!
Your story, though, is one of hope for the future--stay sober and you will have all the confidence in the world. It's one of the blessings of sobriety.
WTG on the 10 days and your personal (and REAL) accomplishment!

Thanks everyone - this support builds me up more than you know.
Ha - Least - a headhunter is a career recruiter. I think "recruiter" is the new word but I'm old school, apparently.
And LexieCat - your message was totally encouraging. Thanks for writing this.
Big hugs to you all - you guys rock. Sometimes I think "I wish I would have found this site sooner" but I immediately change that thought to "I'm so glad I found this site".
