A week now!

Clean for a week today. Feeling pretty good but worried that I might get cocky. Any help for that would be appreciated.

Congrats on your clean week. Keep in mind the reasons that you quit. Writing them down and periodically reviewing them might help.

I find that reading SR keeps me reminded of why I quit. Best wishes.

Are you doing a program like AA? If so, going to meetings and listening helps to remind you of what could happen if you pick up again.

Congrats on 1 week. Getting clean/sober is a process. Do you have a support system in place ? It really helps when your mind starts telling you all is well. You have to set yourself up for success. Keep up the good work.

Best Wishes To You!

I found reading here every day helps me stay gounded - especially in the early days when I knew I'd start to feel good and I'd rationalise and 'revise' my history...

A week is great - congratulations Pachystima

Do you a plan not to get cocky ? . Arrogance and over confidence has been an issue for me- it has tended to lead me down the "I can handle it" , "f..k it" path. At the moment I have been exploring the way of finding things everyday to be thankful for and post on the gratitude list (see other thread). It keeps me in a good place.

I am at day 29 - I have so much more freedom in my mind than I did in the second week. I was still very restless, and my obsession was very powerful. It will get better for you in time (impatience was also one of my problems). So I started trying to remind myself to focus on little things that came into my attention eg the sound of a bird, a pleasant colour or shape, how smooth something was, the shape of a cloud, someones laugh etc etc. It really helped and you can go through a whole day doing it.
