Hobbies
I just realized that I've spent so much time boozing the last 5 years that I really don't have any other interests or hobbies. I don't know what interests me. I don't know how to go about this.
I'm a pretty decent cook, and i like to smoke meat...but these come with limitations.
I enjoy reading the internet and discovering knew things, but this gets tiring
Other than that....I'm clueless
Thoughts?

I can totally relate to this. My only hobbies for the past 15 years was coming up with creative lies to tell doctors for pain & other pills!! And also being a drug addict, nothing seems fun or even interesting anymore. I'm just bored so much of the time! The promises of the 12 steps really interest me though. I just can't imagine my life any different! Good luck refrigerator in your recovery!
Great topic!!!! I was at a meeting last week and the topic was "what do you do for fun with your sobriety?". Unfortunately there were not that many good answers.
But I always think about this, especially since my sobriety does not seem that fun. So I started to try and make a list of things I want to do or try.
The newest thing that I'm going to try is Salsa dancing. Big leap for me because I'm not a big dancer. Another aa member turned me onto the idea. He said that not only is it eazy to get started, but it has a great social aspect to it as well. Which I definitely need more of.

Well since I been sober I've become the father of three kids, gone back to school, had to focus on other areas of my health recently so I rediscovered my passion for lifting weights and cardio. I get motivation for that because I eagerly look forward to leading an active life with my son and daughters, hiking, martial arts, etc.. etc..
Part of the program I practice calls for meditation, so I've also adopted that as a "hobby" of sorts. Reading about it, learning about it, and doing it.

Im still in early days myself and I totally identify with your original post.
I have a room full of musical instruments that I never touched for quite some time.
I think back to the real dark days and really ,my only hobby was drinking .
A sort of self imposed pathetic party every night.
Not a way to live.
Hang in there and give yourself time. Interests will pop up again.
All the best with your sober life.
Well done .

My husband have a beautiful Harley that is triked
out and in fact when the sun went down we got
out on it for an evening ride around town. We
road over the both Mississippi River Bridges to
see how high the river had rose which was close
to cresting. The Spillway gates were open to relieve
the rivers swelling. Whew..!!!
Riding on our bike is fun and relaxing. We like taking
trips which we rode and stayed on the rim of the
Grande Canyon last yr. This yr we went to Daytona
and this coming July to Sturgis.
Just us and the road, wind in our faces and the sun
on our shoulder. Gotta love it.

Recovery continues to expose opportunities for self improvement. Some enjoyable, some not so much.
One of the areas I have found a passion for is attaining financial fitness. We're all gonna die someday. Inasmuch as possible, i'd like to ensure I do so someplace comfortable and nice!
