Hi everyone. I'm new here and thought I would introduce myself. I would like to quit drinking. This is not my first time giving this serious thought. I use alcohol socially, I suppose because I have a bit of social anxiety, and it helps. I always seem to find that I drink more than I should even when I know I'm drunk, and don't particularly WANT to drink more, but I do anyway. I feel anxious without a drink in my hand; gives me something to do.
Today, I had a pretty bad hangover. Which got me thinking maybe it would be best to just cut alcohol out entirely. I think my life would better without it.
I don't drink alone; maybe a beer or glass of wine here or there, but I don't overindulge when I'm alone; only when I'm "out drinking" with others; lately about once a week.

Welcome Maya. Like they say it's not how much you drink it's what happens to you when you drink. If you feel your drinking is out of control than there is no reason why you shouldn't quit. If you aren't dependant on waking up with whiskey then it would hopefully be easier. I would just say change your playgorund and your playmates. That's one of the first steps to taking action.
