Going to AA meetings

It's been almost 2 years since I have stopped drinking. I never went to any AA meetings, but I feel like going, not because I feel like drinking again. I just think going will help me. Is this weird cos I never went before like can you still go years after you have stopped drinking.

I'm sure you could go and it's great that you are working on your recovery.

The only requirement for AA is "a desire to stop drinking" so yes, you are more than welcome to come be a part of AA. In fact, I would encourage it. It is the program that saved my life by helping me stop drinking and address the issues that kept me drinking.

Maz, why do you feel like drinking again? Has something change or something stressful has come up that is hard to deal with?

One of my favorite people at my noontime meeting came to AA a couple of years after quitting on her own. Just like you, she didn't want to drink, but thought her life might get better with a program. It has helped her a lot, and she has helped us a lot too! I think it is a great idea...

Absolutely. The guy that chairs my Thursday morning workshop was sober 16 years before entering AA. He's got like 24 now and is very involved. He offers such a cool experience because he can not only share and relate his drunk life with us but he can explain the differences between sober without AA and sober with it.

You will be very welcomed!
