Charitable Help in Texas

Is there any sort of charitable organizations that would loan money to someone that needs help. My girlfriend despertly wants help. She has tried the government run free detox and her as well as everyone else in there have relapsed, the facilities are just not up to par. My brother is a recovering alcholic and he atteneded the Watershed in Florida and it changed his life, he has been sober for 5 years now. I have found some places here in Texas but they are still like $6000. She has no insurance and I don't have the money to send her there myself. I am desperate to help her because I see what its doing to her, I never thought it was that bad untill I had to sit in the ER with her for 4 hours last weekend. Luckily there is no liver damage yet and I want to make sure there never is. If any has any information please let me know. Thanks you all and God bless.

Tommy

I'm sorry you have to go through that.
I imagine its tough watching a loved one struggle. And even worse when you cant seem to find help. I went through it so many times.
Have you tried social services? I had medicaid and got into inpatient. it was only for 28 days but then you can go to outpatient or a longer stay in a halfway house. I did that last year. All I had to do was go to social services and apply for food stamps and temporary assistance and tell them I was going to a sober living house and they pay the rent required by the house. And also gave a monthly cash personal needs allowance on top of ffod stamps for the house.
I was in NY tho. I know it varied from state to state.
If all else fails. Go to a psychiatric facility which is what I did and they helped me get into rehab too.
I dont know what lengths you are willing to go. But I was desperate. So much I claimed beign suicidal so someone would just help me.
I am sure there are others here that may be able to help.
They have rehabs with sliding scale billing too. There are lots of links on the main page of SR.
Good Luck

The Salvation Army offers free rehab for anyone who wants it.

Check your local SA.

I go to a counseling service/rehab that is funded thru the state if you qualify.
(If you're really a drunk!LOL) I only have to pay for my books.
Did you try calling doctors' offices to see if they have further info on help?

Hi! I'm sorry that I don't know of any assistance in Texas because I live in California, but I wanted you to know that I am keeping you and your girlfriend in my prayers, and that she will find the help she needs! (I'm also sharing this need with my prayer group!) God bless you! You obviously care a great deal about her!

This will not provide money but try

National Drug and Alcohol Treatment Referral Routing Service available at
1-800-662-HELP
This service can provide you with information about treatment programs in your local community
and allow you to speak with someone about alcohol problems

hope that is still the correct number...I've not checked it recently
All my best to both of you...
