Wave at the new guy....
I woke up early as usual, and decided to stop drinking for some reason, and was hoping to find support here. Day 1, I suppose. Don't really trust myself to stay the course, yet, I realize a "start day" must be picked! I quite Smoking Cigarettes, quit smoking everything about 5 months ago, so I guess I need to take on the next demon, my old friend Alcohol.
You know what they say: there's no time like the present. Congratulations for making the decision and also for quitting smoking - I have yet to do that.
I discovered that alcohol was no friend after all, and am so grateful I stopped drinking. Lots of support here, welcome!
Hey Thinkn...I am at day 1 myself. Like you, woke up knowing what I have to do. So smart to quit smoking. I smoke when I drink and hate how I feel when I do that. Good luck new friend. We can do it....forever, not just for a few weeks.
I quit smoking and drinking at the same time 8 months ago...in some ways the smoking was harder, but that might have been just me
A positive attitude was the most useful tool for me...the Gratitiude forum helps with that
Nice to have someone that is thinking about this same things I am, like how to best make it through day 1. Don't have much of a plan yet, just want to start! Good luck to you and keep in touch!

Welcome to SR! You sound like I did a few months ago—no big drama, no arrest, no trip to the ER—just woke up one day determined to find a better way to live. I've been supported by the folks here every day since!
