Dropping like flies

Well lost another one, pulled the plug last night. In the last 12 months I have been to many funerals due to addiction. One hung himself outside of the noon meeting, one stepped in front of a moving car, one newbie was found dead in the bed of a married woman with 20 years "sober", then there was 2 livers that failed and a car wreck. Now I just held the hand of another while they disconnected the machine that kept him alive. He took a handfull of pills. Death is permanent, addiction isnt. So to anyone that plans on staying sober for a while I have a suggestion. Buy a good suit, your gonna need it. Just sayin...

Aw, man, Stu,

Those funerals suck. Sorry for your losses. This disease sucks--it kills so many, in one way or another.

So sad and tragic!
Very good of you to be with this person in their last moments, that is not an easy thing to do.

I got something from it - thank you stugotz. I used to think I was infallible & would always bounce back. Almost lost my life discovering it wasn't true.

I'm sorry for all the loss you've been through lately. It's amazing how strong and deadly addiction often is.

This is indeed sad, but perhaps not surprising.

Never mind the rest . . .
