Day 8

Day eight is going great! It's been an interesting week. I started exercising again. I don't yet have enough flexibility to pat myself on the back.

I've pretty much isolated myself from alcohol. I think I still need more time before I can be around it. My boyfriend and I cooked dinner at home on Valentines Day because I just didn't want the disappointment of not being able to make the wine selection with a meal, had we gone out. We had a really romantic evening at home.

Tuesday I came face to face with a bottle of Corona in a fast food restaurant. It was tempting but not too much to handle.

Wednesday I went to the convenient store. It was weird because the bottle of Jack that was behind the counter created a knot in my stomach. I didn't want any at that time but realized that before I quit I would have bought it anyway, for later.

I keep doing healthy things. I also found a local Smart Recovery meeting group to go to next week!

Thank you everyone in SR for the support!

Congratulations hugger!! I am on day 50 or so and the other day I stood at the door way to our bottle shop and said hi to the guy who used to serve me 1 to 2 bottles of Merlot a day!! - i did not go in just stood at the door and said I don't drink anymore and I suppose you have excess Merlot to sell! he asked if I would ever drink again and I said no it appears I am allergic to grapes! Well done - it feels great and I have lost 20 pounds. My self confidence is back. Life is looking bright!

Hello (hugger),
I know that you/I/we can do this!! I keep seeing all these folks here doin it, so therefore I BELIEVE !!
I myself am on day 10 today and am realizing more and more that what these people here say is spot on! It DOES get better everyday. In minute increments, sometimes unnoticeable on a particular day, but noticeable after a few days more pass!
Keep up the progress! I will too.

I remember the first time I went to a restaurant after quitting. It was torture seeing the alcohol everywhere. Or, for the first time in ages, really noticing advertising for alcohol. I used to just gloss over those neon signs but after quitting they were screaming at me.

Glad you made it through. It does get easier.
